Marine Aluminium AS and TTS Energy are forming the Uptime Alliance, a technology and marketing collaboration that will contribute to increased efficiency and safety for offshore vessels and marine installations. The alliance currently offers two unique systems: the Uptime Helideck - the world’s only motion compensated helideck - and the Uptime Gangway. The dedicated website will go live 1 July 2010. 6 May 2010 witnessed the christening of jack-up platform Thor in the Port of Hamburg. Thor is one of the biggest jack-up platforms today, capable to install ofshore wind farms even in deepwaters up to 50 m. Thor is the second platform for its owner Hochtief. The unique advantages of the Thor are that the platform is capable of operating in water depths of up to 50 m and its maximum load bearing capacity of 3,300 tons. Read the rest of this entry »

Offshore wind farm support vessel specialists OWPMS has partnered with The Brook Henderson Group to provide a bespoke package for offshore wind farm operators, focusing on vessel supply during construction and operation & maintenance phases throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Dockwise Ltd. has won 10 awards for Heavy Marine Transport projects and two for engineering assignments related to a float-over for CNOOC and to Wheatstone. Total revenues for these various commitments are expected to exceed USD 35 million. The relationship between the China National Offshore Oil Corporation, (CNOOC) and Dockwise continues to grow as CNOOC (parent company of COOEC) recognizes Ocean Dynamics Ltd., (ODL), a member of the Dockwise Group of Companies, for its expertise in deepwater jacket and float-over design. Abu Dhabi based National Petroleum Construction Company Ltd. (NPCC) has contracted Chinese shipyard Zhenhua Heavy Industries for the construction of their DLS 4200. The derrick lay vessel developed by Dutch design office Ulstein Sea of Solutions combines double joint S-lay capabilities with a 4,200t lifting capacitiy. DLS 4200 is designed to operate worldwide and is equipped with a 10-point mooring system to operate in the Arabian Gulf and India. To meet future market requirements, the design has already been prepared for DP2 upgrade to minimize the technical impact and shorten the upgrade process.

The Swiss-based Allseas Group S.A. has awarded the building contract for the dynamically positioned platform installation/decommissioning and pipelay vessel Pieter Schelte to Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., Korea. The contract value is EUR 454.5 million on a total building sum of over EUR 1.3 billion.

Eide Marine Tech AS (EMT) has been selected by Aibel AS as supplier of Reverse Osmoses equipment for Statoil’s Snorre A installation. The delivery is a part of Aibel’s Snorre Export and Robustness Project and will by replacing existing equipment contribute to a considerable weight reduction on the installation. The German Utility Company RWE Innogy has awarded Aker Solutions yard in Verdal, Aker Verdal AS, an EPC-contract for supply of 48 steel jackets and piles for the Offshore Wind Farm Nordsee Ost project in the North Sea.
