Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) announced the signing of a letter of intent with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., Korea (DSME), for the building of a new Deep Water Construction Vessel. Dutch Bodewes Winches BV received an order to supply four winches for the construction of two Deep Water Hoisting Systems. Ultimately the systems are to be delivered to the DP2 heavy lift vessel Fairplayer of Jumbo Shipping, extensively covered in last year’s December-edition of ShipBuilding Industry. Bodewes Winches BV has a proven track record in deepwater systems which also show the delivery of traction and storage winches for Heerema Marine Contractors (two A&R winch systems), for Transocean and GlobalSantaFe (three combined 8- and 16-point mooring systems). The total scope of supply includes delivery of four electrically powered winches, two double-drum traction winches and two storage winches.
